B’nei Mitzvah
Mazel Tov! Reaching the age of Bar or Bat Mitzvah is one of the most meaningful milestones in Jewish life. This is the time when a child takes their first steps into Jewish adulthood and embraces the values and responsibilities of our tradition.

Bar Mitzvah
At Beth Ora, we recognize that every child learns and connects differently. Our Bar Mitzvah program is designed to help each boy engage with Jewish life in a way that feels personal, empowering, and joyful.
Together with parents, the Rabbi develops an individualized learning plan — guiding the student in reading from the Torah, chanting the Haftorah, and leading portions of the prayer service. Each Bar Mitzvah also works on preparing a D’var Torah, sharing their own reflections on the weekly parasha.
Parents are encouraged to participate throughout the preparation process, helping their child understand the deeper meaning of becoming a Bar Mitzvah and the lifelong significance of this Jewish milestone.
Bar Mitzvah services can take place on Shabbat morning, Shabbat Mincha/Ma’ariv, or on Monday or Thursday mornings when the Torah is read.

Bat Mitzvah
A Bat Mitzvah at Beth Ora is a celebration of learning, growth, and identity — a moment for each young woman to explore her connection to Judaism in a meaningful and personal way.
The Rabbi works closely with the family to design a ceremony that reflects the student’s strengths and interests. Through a guided program of study, each girl prepares a D’var Torah, and engages with the mitzvot and values that shape Jewish life.
Depending on the family’s preference, the Bat Mitzvah can be celebrated any day of the week. Each ceremony is accompanied by a mitzvah component or personal reflection that connects learning to lived experience.
