Chesed Committee
Supporting Our Community with Care and Compassion

About Our Chesed Committee
At Beth Ora, we believe in the sacred value of chesed. Our Chesed Committee is dedicated to supporting community members during times of joy, transition, and need.
We reach out, show up, and help out—ensuring that no one in our community faces life’s challenges alone.
What Does the Committee Do?
We provide support through:
- Checking in on community members who are ill, recovering, or facing difficult times
- Coordinating meal deliveries for families with new babies, during illness, or after loss
- Visiting members who are homebound or hospitalized
- Offering practical assistance during life transitions
- Providing extra hands during High Holidays and busy synagogue periods
- Connecting members with community resources and support services

Community Initiatives

Phone Buddy System
Here we strengthen connections within the Beth Ora community. Volunteers are matched with community members for regular, friendly check-in calls that bring comfort, companionship, and a sense of belonging.

Recycling Program
Beth Ora collects empty aluminum cans from the community to support both the environment and our programs. Together, we turn everyday items into meaningful contributions and brings our congregation together in sustainability.

Everyone Has a Story
Everyone carries meaningful experiences, memories, and stories and we want to help share them. By collecting and preserving these personal memories, we keep our shared history vibrant and alive for future generations.
