What We Study
This rigorous class tackles complex halachic topics through careful analysis of Talmudic sources, Rishonim, Acharonim, and contemporary responsa. We don’t just learn what the halacha is—we understand why, exploring the reasoning and methodology behind Jewish legal decisions.
Our study includes:
- Primary source analysis (Gemara, Rashi, Tosafot)
- Tracing halachic development through Shulchan Aruch and commentaries
- Examining modern-day applications and questions
- Understanding legal methodology (svara, precedent, principles)
- Exploring contemporary poskim and responsa
Current cycle: [Topic – e.g., “Hilchot Shabbat,” “Business Ethics,” “Medical Halacha”]
No Commitment Required
While this is a sequential course, dedicated learners can join mid-cycle. Contact Rabbi Heshy for guidance on catching up.
